The Champions League is always one of the most eagerly anticipated sporting events of the year for all football fans, as it is Europe’s footballing elites come together to fight it out for the most coveted trophy in club football, the Champions League. The quarter finals have been drawn which are due to be played in early April and so we thought we’d look into who are the favourites to lift the trophy come the end of May.
The heavy favourites for the tournaments are Pep Guardiola and Manchester City who are priced at 9/4 to win the trophy for the first time for the blue side of Manchester. City have been in unbelievable form this season and even went on a 21-win streak this season which probably explains why their price is so short. They have been tied against Borussia Dortmund in the quarter finals, a side that they will be looking forward to playing who have been quite poor in the Bundesliga this year. If you are looking for the smart money to bet on this year, then Manchester City might be your bet.
However, we certainly cannot count out the current champions Bayern Munich who have continued their form there form from last yar and are currently priced at 7/2 to win the Champions League this year. The only thing that has made the price drift for the German champions is that they have been drawn against PSG who are in some serious form this year having knocked out Barcelona in the previous round. If Bayern Munich are wanting to win the Champions League back-to-back then they are going to have to prove that they are on their A game against PSG in April.
And finally, a team that has grown in the market since the release of the draw has been Chelsea. Since the sacking of Frank Lampard, Thomas Tuchel has taken over the London club and they have been unbeaten since his arrival and are looking in really strong form. Not only that, but they certainly have a very favourable draw where they will face Porto who are the biggest price for the tournament and not only that, but if Chelsea win, they also find themselves on the better side of the draw where they will avoid Bayern Munich, PSG and Manchester City which is good news for Tuchel and his men. If you do fancy a punt on Chelsea, these betting sites have they priced at 9/2 which is the best price you will see them on a gamstop-free betting site.
