Needless to say, better facilities will draw more travellers to go to Lake Toba, but that doesn’t mean the big all-natural lake doesn’t have an appeal all of its own: here are five reasons to visit today before the crowds descend.

World’s Largest Volcanic Lake

According to research undertaken by the Michigan Technological University, Lake Toba has been shaped by an explosion which happened around 73,000 to 75,000 decades back. It, ironically, also noted as the most massive eruption in the world that led to the extinction of 60 percent of the human race. This reason alone is enough for anyone who wants to see the place.

Unparalleled Beauty

For people who want to find natural beauty, Lake Toba is the answer. Why? The lake is a beautiful body of water surrounded by beautiful hills. The environment that appears is flora and fauna, overgrown with pine and palm trees with wild animals like monkeys, orangutans, langur monkeys and tapirs.

Samosir Island

Lake Toba is also famous for Samosir Island, situated directly in the centre of this lake. The island also provides myriad cultures and arts, and travellers will find the opportunity to see traditional Batak homes, in addition to the way to weave North Sumatra’s typical cloth, known as ulos.

The Mysterious Doll

Meet Sigale-gale, the native statue to Samosir Island. The dolls are made from wood and could be seen dancing throughout a Batak ritual. Not only that, but Sigale-gale dolls also have spiritual importance and mysticism: they are sometimes seen dancing throughout funerals, for instance.

Yummy Food

It’s gourmet heaven at Lake Toba because there are plenty of Medan delicacies provided in the area. We urge sitohap porridge, a staple of the Silalahi clan, that has lived on the shores of Lake Toba for decades. It is made out of ginger, candlenut and andaliman as well as sitohap leaves which grow in the forests surrounding the region. The porridge can be enjoyed with slices of chicken and crackers. For dessert, people should try out lapet: a typical Batak cake that’s ordinarily moulded in a pyramid wrapped in banana leaves. The cake consists of grated coconut and coconut rice then steamed–also even a fitting dessert for afternoon tea to be appreciated while glancing in the enchanting vista of Lake Toba.

Vacation is more than just the scenery, food, accommodation, it’s about making long-lasting memories. Discover more adventures in Lake Toba by visiting Wonderful Indonesia.

Blue ocean is fast becoming a favorite destination in the area. Lying just four hours from Central Medan, this ancient supervolcano is bound to please both nature lovers and adventure seekers alike. Covering more than 1200km², the territory around Lake Toba is still one of the most diverse in Southeast Asia. It is also clearly different from anywhere else in Indonesia. Before you jump onto the bandwagon and hurry over to the lake, then here are three things that you definitely should do during your visit to Lake Toba.

  1. Get yourself chill with the lake

Immerse from the beauty of the lake by having a picnic or a stroll by the lake. There is no sweeter way to enjoy nature than just taking your own time to revel in it. Lay down a picnic mat, or simply grab a beach chair from a few of the numerous lakeside resorts and just have a glass of iced tea or two. Located in the fresh waters of this lake right at the doorstep of your lakeside resort. Look out for rocks and shallow beds before diving in. You will find several other water activities available such as jet-skiing, which you’re able to go to.

  1. Rent a motor scooter

An inexpensive method of researching Samosir island on Lake Toba would be on a motor scooter. Even though the island is quite big at 640km² (compared, Singapore is 710km²), nearly all of its attractions are on the northeastern side overlooking Parapat. For that reason, it is quite feasible to visit most of the attractions that the island has to offer on motorcycles. Cycling is also possible but provided that the steep hills and poorly maintained streets, it will be exceedingly tiring to cycle. The costs are bargainable if you’re taking a look at leasing it very carefully.

  1. Visit the Batak Villages

The region surrounding Lake Toba is occupied by an ethnic group known as the Bataks. Whose customs and lifestyles are usually distinct from the rest of Indonesia. The massive bulk of Bataks subscribe to the Christian religion. Consequently, there are a lot more churches in the region than other Indonesian cities and towns. The Batak people themselves are split into several diverse groups with distinct cultures and practices in one another.

However, one thing that stayed similar to the Batak people is the architecture of their homes. While there are slight differences, most Batak communities have houses with similarly shaped roofs.

Whether your trips take you to a long stroll on beaches, delicious cuisines, relaxing spas, and resorts or urban attractions, extra research will give you the best experience for your visit. Get to know more about Lake Toba by visiting Wonderful Indonesia.

Before I travelled to Egypt for the first time, I had a lot of questions on my mind, several of which are still unanswered. But as soon as I landed the I set out to explore a destination I had been yearning to for years.

You’re must be wondering if it’s safe, whether what you’ve seen on the news is a correct depiction, what is the best time to travel and where can you buy cheap tickets. Just read on for some, if not all answers!

Is Egypt Safe?

It’s totally safe to travel throughout the country. Regardless of the time, you can walk down the streets, without feeling uncomfortable or insecure. The locals are highly cooperative and the police is available at many checkpoints along the way.

Although there have been many disturbances in the country lately, major tourist spots have remained largely undisturbed. The section of the country between the Nile & the Red Sea is also considered mostly safe. Visitors travelling on roads in this region should expect to stopped frequently at military checkpoints.

Egypt time zone

It is the two hours ahead of GMT in winter. In summer the clocks move forward one hour from the last Thursday in April to the last Thursday in September.

BOOKING ACCOMMODATION ONLINE IN EGYPT

There is often a different quoted price for Egyptians & residents and foreigners and visitors. Be mindful of this when booking particularly when comparing options on price. It is always safer and easier to book your flight through the airline you wish to travel. Weather in Egypt

If you are planning to travel during winter in the months of January and February, you will find pleasant sun-filled days with chilly nights. However, the sun and the heat in the summer months can be terribly strong, especially in the South where Aswan and Luxor are located, with the nights being warm and pleasant. Some tips you can use to protect yourself from the sun and heat:

  • When in exposed places it is necessary that you wear a hat.
  • Always carry sunscreen and sunglasses.
  • Go sightseeing either early in the morning or late in day.
  • Enjoy a ride along the Nile in the evening for the cool breeze.

You must plan your trip accordingly and book your flights earlier than the planned date. Further discounts can be availed if you travel via Air Arabia Discount Code.

Best time to visit Egypt

The best time to visit Egypt overall is from September/October through to April, when temperatures are at their most pleasant. This makes cultural and sightseeingmore enjoyable. However, December, January and Easter constitute peak tourist season, and iconic sights like the Pyramids of Giza, the Temples of Luxor and Abu Simbel can get awkwardly crowded.

If you are planning on travelling mainly for swimming and snorkelling in the ocean, then there is no reason not to head to the Red Sea resorts during the very hot months of summer where 38 – 45 degrees Celsius is not unusual.

Weekend – is Friday a workday?

The workweek is Sunday to Thursday and hence Friday and Saturday constitute the weekend with Friday being the main day off for the entire country.

If you are a mountain person, Mussoorie must be among those few hill stations that you will always love to visit. The hill station does not give you that extreme feeling of being at the mountain and at the same time it offers you the exact feel. Somewhat, I can say, it is the most comfortable hill station that I have ever thought of.

It was my first trip to Mussoorie, still, I did not feel stuck up anywhere in the route. Initially, when I came out of the airport, I was skeptical about the fare that the cab drivers are going to ask for Mussoorie. But soon, after asking just one of them, I realized that the Dehradun airport to Mussoorie taxi fare is reasonable enough and hence took the ride. During the journey, I made a list of places where I can go. Of course, the driver of my taxi acted as a guide also in this case and suggested some of the important places of the hill station. Google was my second backup to get some more reviews on the places.

The Lakes

When you are at a hill station, lakes seem to be even more beautiful that exactly it is. Lake Mist and Mussoorie Lake are two of the most important lakes that you can visit on your trip. Both the lakes offers a romantic background for the couples to spend some alone time. Apart from the couples, it is also an excellent place for people who are out there for the purpose of a picnic.

The Devotional Spots

If you are towards the devotional side, Mussoorie is the place where you will come across a good number of temples. Some of the important temples that can be named as of now are Nag Devta Temple, Jwala Devi Temple, Tapkeshwar Mahadev Temple, Surkanda Devi Temple, and many others. Not just the temples, there are also other famous sports for devotion such as Christ Church that is dated way back to the Gothic times.

The Falls

Mussoorie is not just the land of lakes but also it houses a large number of waterfalls. Kempty Falls, Bhatta Falls, Mossy Falls, and Jharipari Falls are some of the important falls of this region.

The Happy Valley

This valley is my favorite as it has a number of amazing spots and elements to praise and experience. Exploring around the location, you will come across the magical land of Cloud’s End. Other places here that can interest you as well are the Tibetan Temple, Hathipaon Park Estate, and many others.

For the Nature Lovers

Apart from the natural scenic beauty, Mussoorie also has a huge list of wildlife beauty to offer. Benog Wildlife Sanctuary and Tiger View Jungle Camp are some of the places of visit that I have personally liked. Pine trees, snow-covered peaks, and cold weather sets a perfect background for options such as jungle safari and others. I preferred trekking, exploring the forest beauty and wildlife of this year.

Other Places That Might Interest You

Mussoorie has an endless number of places to visit. You just need to search and keep on updating your list of tourist attractions. The above-mentioned locations are the places that I have experienced. Apart from these, there are also many other spots to be witnessed and explored. Some more places that I would love to visit on my next trip are Tapovan, Lakha Mandal, Lal Tibba, Gun Hill, Jaspal Rana Shooting Range, Camel’s Back Road, and many others.

The best plan to visit Mussoorie is simply to have not a rigid plan. Simply book a reliable cab in Mussoorie and explore as many places as you can. It is always better to get a general idea of what are the things not to be missed out; else, you can explore the beauty of the place on your own. On the hills, even the maggie tastes super yummy. So, simply pack and get set go for Mussoorie.

As spring hits its stride and we edge toward summer, you’re probably starting to think about updating your workwear wardrobe to deal with the warmer conditions.

It’s an important consideration – ultimately your workwear is intended to keep you comfortable and safe on the job. Work clothes for cooler conditions won’t cut it when the mercury starts heading over thirty degrees. You’ll need to start thinking about how to stay cool, deal with sweaty conditions and protect yourself from Australia’s intense summer sun.

The reality is, of course, that if you are working in trades and areas that require workwear, there will be minimum PPE requirements. So how do you meet those requirements and still stay comfortable in the heat?

  1. Light, breathable fabrics

Summer conditions call for light, breathable fabrics – both light colour so that your clothes aren’t absorbing the heat and light drill, so you’ve got ease of movement and comfort. Breathable fabrics, especially natural fibres and engineered fabrics designed to keep moisture and airflow manageable, are also an important consideration. Even if your workplace requirements mean you have to wear full length clothing, think about these tips to keep you cool and dry.

  1. Short legs and sleeves

If it’s an option, short legs and short sleeves – either collars or tees – are a great choice and will even help you get your vitamin D levels up! However, remember to Slip, Slop, Slap – sun protection is essential for anyone working in the outdoors and if you’ve exposed your legs and arms you need to apply sunscreen.

  1. Cover your head and shield your eye.

A good hat, suited to your work type will shield your head and face from harmful UV and can also help you to keep cool. The best option is a wide-brimmed hat rather than a cap. Similarly, good quality sunglasses, weather specifically designed as safety eyewear, or simply for UV protection, are essential – and make sure you choose a pair that afford proper UV protection to effectively protect your eyes.

Of course, gearing up for summer workwear can be expensive. That’s why BAD Workwear offers an AfterPay solution to help you get into your essential summer workwear as soon as possible.

So, remember these basic tips to stay cool and look cool at work this summer – good quality, lighter natural fibres, keep the sun off and protect your skin and eyes and of course, don’t forget to keep the water up! And if the budget’s a bit stretched, think about BAD Workwear’s AfterPay purchase options.

Many of the cars nowadays are marketed with a 3500kg towing capacity, as of the maximum capacity allowed for common licenses. From a medium-sized Ford Ranger to full-sized Land Rover Discovery, are all cars created equal for towing? Before looking for hydraulic tipper trailers for sale, this is the article that you need to read through first.

Some knowledge to start with

For safe towing, there are multiple boring numbers to check to keep everyone on your car and on the road alive. It is essential to abide to the figures as it not only maintains durability and safety, but also the terrifying legal consequences if an unlikely event happened during overload.

The tow rating of your vehicle is the first to look for. While many advertised with the maximum weight, smaller cars are likely to have a lower rating. The tow rating is basically the maximum weight that you can tow, which is separated to the weight of the trailer and the capacity of the trailer. While most trailers advertise with ATM, this refers to the weight of trailer at maximum capacity. By deducting the ATM with the weight of the trailer, the resulting figure is the max capacity of your trailer.

Yet, those are not the most limiting figures. The GCM, or the gross combination mass, regulates how heavy the towing vehicle plus the trailer can be. In this case, the weight of the towing vehicle plays a huge part. While gross vehicle mass (GVM) is the max weight that the vehicle can withstand, the kerb weight is the weight of vehicle when empty.

Putting the figures into use

Boring stuff aside, the number game begins. Taking the beloved Ford Ranger (including all variants except the single cab low rider) as an example, while being rated to tow 3500kg, the GCM allowed is only 6000kg. A few presses on the calculator, you will find that you are only left with 2500kg. With the kerb weight being 2271kg, you can only place 229kg of stuff on the car.

If it sounds a lot, think again. The 229kg does not include the fuel in your tank, your own body weight, the stuff in your trunk and the bottle of water in the door bin. If you are towing a loaded caravan, the luggage that you can carry is minimal.

Are manufacturers making false claims?

Not necessarily. Towing capacity requires both the engine and the chassis of the car in accordance to regulatory standards in order to validate. The numbers are justified before allowing the vehicle to be on sale. The possibility of false claim is almost none.

And the manufacturers are not required to make disclosures upon these circumstances. In fact, the carrying capacity of the vehicle when towing max load do not require to be validated during the entire process. In theory, it is possible that a vehicle was made with no extra weight allowed in the cab while towing the maximum load.

This presents as a loophole that our regulatory bodies should take a look at. In the meantime, it would be our responsibility to double check the figures before buying a vehicle to tow any trailers.
